April,13, 2018 Algirdas Jurgelevicius, Vice-President of the Eastern European Association of the Greens, met with the member of Parlament of the Republic of Lithuania, chairman of the Lithuanian Green Party Linas Balsys.
At the meeting mr. L.Balsys was introduced to the activities of the EEAG, its goals and development prospects.
There was also a detailed overview of the environmental situation in Eastern Europe, with an emphasis on the most pressing environmental problems in each country. L.Balsis received a detailed study prepared by the EEAG “Eastern European Ecological Problems of 2017”.
It was noted that although the EEAG only operates from 2016, close links were established with non-governmental environmental organizations in Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus and Bulgaria. Therefore, the EEAG can act as an advocate for ecological problems in these countries and lobbying for the EU Environmental Funds to implement specific environmental projects in Eastern Europe.
Mr. L.Balsys became interested in the activities of the EEAG and expressed his support in organizing contacts with ecological organizations in Lithuania, Belarus, Russia and other countries.
Interest was also expressed in the EEAG’s conferences and discussions-round tables in Brussels and the willingness to participate in them.
